The following set of detailed instructions describe the steps to get started with Big Brother assuming the module has been successfully installed.
- Go to an existing portal page or create a new portal page
- Add the ETM.BigBrother module to the page
- From the module's menu (usually located at the top left/right corner of the module) and select Settings menu item
- In the module Settings screen, expand the Big Brother Settings section to start configuring Big Brother
- Control Panel Settings: section to enable/disable Big Brother for the current portal
- Select "Enable Statistics Scheduler" property option to enable Big Brother in the portal. TIP: This property option is only required to be set once for each portal. To turn off Big Brother unselect the property option. When the property option is selected, an additional Scheduler Settings and Monitoring Events options are available for configuration
- Select "Scheduler Stats Visible" property option if required to display the Scheduler Statistics section in the main control panel
- Select "Global Settings Visible" property option if required to display the Global View Settings section in the main control panel
- Scheduler Settings: section to specify the frequency to run statistics engine
- In the "Scheduler Frequency" property, provide a valid numeric value to indicate how often the scheduler statistics engine should be executed to gather stats data for the portal. The default value is every 10 minutes.
- The "Last Executed" and "Next Execute" properties are to indicate when the scheduler engine last executed and next scheduled run time respectively
- Monitoring Events & Watch List: section to specify the portal and event types to monitor
- Select from a list of available "Portals" to add to monitoring watch list. TIP: The number of portals available in the list depends on the role of the current user (i.e if the user is a SuperUser he/she will be able to see all Portals within the DotNetNuke instance)
- Select from the list of available "Event Types" to add to monitoring watch list: TIP: the number of event types available in the list depends on the role of the current user (i.e if the user is a SuperUser he/she will be able to choose from up to 13 different event type where as a normal user may only see up to 7 event types)
- Select the number of "Records" and "Period" to display.
- Check the "Is Expanded" option to indicate the watch event to be expanded when displayed in the main control panel
- Click on "Add to Watch List" link button to add to list of monitoring event.
- It is possible to add as many watch list items as possible to the control panel.
- Click on Update link buttons to apply changes
